Taming the Beast

The sequel to Breaking the Silence is a first draft! Taming the Beast is a young adult historical fantasy novel that follows Stephen, the orphaned son of a king trying to find his place in late-Carolingian Francia by exploring the power of music. After his adventure at St. Maximinus monastery (Breaking the Silence) Stephen is sent to the court of King Ludwig in East Francia to try and calm his anxiety after the deaths of the king’s two sons in succession. There Stephen meets Aenor, a young lady in waiting to the queen who is a particularly gifted singer.

God in the Flesh

I also have been working on an academic monograph on the ways ordinary peoples’ associations with flesh in sixth-century Gaul influenced the ways that church leaders explained the theology of Christ as the Word-made flesh. I am nearing completion and will be looking to publish with a university press soon.
